Data logger & Controller
With the EcoPhi Monitoring & Control Boxes, you can connect various system components and external sensors to the EcoPhi Cloud.
The EcoPhi Monitoring & Control Boxes
Compact all-in-one solutions
The boxes combine monitoring, control, logging, connectivity and storage in a single device, reducing installation effort and costs.
Various interfaces
Support for Modbus RTU/TCP, CAN, digital/analogue I/Os for flexible integration.
Secure communication
Data transmission is encrypted and standardised using the MQTT protocol with TLS security.
Integrated connectivity
GSM/LTE, LAN and WiFi are built in – for reliable communication even in remote locations with no need for separate modules.
Integrated control
Control of components such as batteries, inverters or loads via programmable logic and relay control.
Integrated backup battery
The integrated battery ensures that the box continues to run for several hours even during power failures, storing data and reliably executing control commands.
The hardware in detail
Basic Controller
The Basic Controller can be used to implement simple monitoring requirements and basic control functions via digital and analogue outputs.
Key features include:
- Integrated LAN, GSM and WiFi modules
- Integrated battery as a buffer
- Serial interface
- 3x DI, 3x AI
- Relay control and simple PLC

Plant Monitor/ Controller
The Plant Monitor/Controller is suitable for extensive monitoring and control applications. Both are based on the same hardware.
Key features are:
- Integrated LAN, GSM, WiFi modules
- Integrated battery as buffer
- Serial interface and up to 128 devices can be connected
- 8x DI, 4x AI
- Relay control and complex PLC
- Control of connected system components and EMS-capable

Sensors
EcoPhi offers a selection of established sensors that can be used to improve the monitoring of energy systems. In addition, proprietary and external sensors can be connected.
Sensors from the EcoPhi portfolio include:
- Irradiation sensors
- Temperature sensors
- Door sensors (reed sensors)

FAQ – Monitoring & Control Boxes
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about monitoring and control boxes and hardware. You can find more answers to your questions in our FAQ section. We are also happy to answer your questions in person or by email.
This depends on the type of system. Some systems require very fast measurements, while others react more slowly. Depending on the application, the system data is read out at sampling rates ranging from less than 1 second to several minutes. The data is sent to the EcoPhi Cloud at intervals of 1 to 15 minutes.
Yes. The Edge Controllers buffer measurement data locally and automatically synchronise it with the cloud as soon as the connection is restored. This ensures that no operating data is lost.
The platform supports Modbus TCP/RTU, CAN and OCPP, among others. Proprietary protocols can be connected via gateway or parser modules.
Depending on the interface configuration, up to 128 measuring points or components can be integrated simultaneously. For more complex projects, multiple boxes can be flexibly networked.
LoRa transmitters and receivers can be used to transfer data locally via radio, eliminating the need for complex cabling to the EcoPhi boxes. This is particularly useful for larger systems and distributed components.
