As part of the dena Renewable Energy Solutions (RES) programme in South Africa, project activities focusing on energy system integration and practical EMS applications have been successfully concluded. The programme supports the deployment of sustainable and reliable energy solutions in markets facing structural grid challenges and evolving regulatory frameworks.

Within this context, the focus was on energy management approaches that enable stable operation under variable grid conditions, including decentralised generation, battery storage and fluctuating supply scenarios. In particular, the South African market highlights the importance of flexible control strategies, transparent system monitoring and adaptable EMS architectures.

The completion of the dena RES activities underlines the relevance of configurable and manufacturer-independent energy management systems for emerging and dynamic energy markets. Insights gained during the programme contribute to the continued development of practical EMS concepts that can be transferred to comparable market environments.
